Co-Chair Dr. Monopoli is recently retired as vice president of grant strategy for CareQuest Institute for Oral Health. He continues to be an advocate for oral health and currently serves on several not-for-profit organization boards and advisory groups that focus on improving oral health. Prior to joining CareQuest Institute, Michael held a number of senior roles with the DentaQuest Partnership and Delta Dental of Massachusetts, an affiliate of CareQuest Institute. He also previously served as dental director at the Office of Oral Health for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Michael is a past President of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He was inducted into the International College of Dentists in 2021. Michael also serves on the boards of directors of the Forsyth Institute and the Shils Fund. Michael serves on advisory councils of the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Michael earned his doctor of dental medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and two master’s degrees from Harvard University School of Public Health. He also completed a fellowship in geriatric dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Co-Chair Mr. Smurr is a veteran of the dental industry with over 40 years in the market with time on both the manufacturing and distribution sides of the business. He is retired from Patterson Dental (PDCO) where he was the Director of Marketing, Merchandise, responsible for manufacturer relations and the sales and marketing of all merchandise. Mr. Smurr is the Founder and Principal of MTS Partners, LLC, consulting on business development, sales, marketing, and acquisitions in the dental industry.
Treasurer Ms. Moore is a consultant and speaker focused on infection prevention and healthcare compliance. She began her career as a Registered Dental Hygienist before becoming an adjunct Dental Hygiene faculty member at Bristol Community College. She’s authored journal articles, collaborated with the CDC on their Foundations: Building the Safety Dental Visit program and with 3M and the Midmark Corporation as an educational consultant. Currently, she serves as a member on AAMI and ADA Standards working groups. Joyce is a Certified Registered Central Service Technician, holding a certification through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). She was the 2019 recipient of the ADS Emerging Infection Control Leader award and has earned the Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate, the Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and Control (CDIPC) certification, and the Dental Industry Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control (DISIPC) certification.
Secretary Zecki Dossal, MBA, is a Senior Director at Henry Schein, where he drives commercial growth and recurring revenue strategy, leading new market expansion and enterprise value creation. He has launched high-margin ventures, scaled subscription-based business models, and led strategic growth across North America and EMEA. Previously, Zecki was a Senior Vice President at GLG, overseeing strategy and operations for the private equity and venture capital business. He advised investment teams on deal evaluation, portfolio optimization, and value creation. He also founded GLG’s social impact initiatives, helping high-growth social enterprises accelerate decision-making and scale. Zecki holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from Columbia University. He serves on the Boards of the Association for Dental Safety and the Global Partnerships Forum and is an Advisory Board Member of NEXUS and The Resolution Project. Director Marcia Brand is a consultant and advisor on matters related to access to oral and rural health care. From 2009 until 2015, Dr. Brand served as the Deputy Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an Agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services that works to fill in the gaps for people who live outside the economic and medical mainstream. The Agency used its $11 billion annual budget to expand access to quality health care in partnership with health care providers and health professions training programs. From 2007-2009, Brand was associate administrator of HRSA’s Bureau of Health Professions, where she provided national leadership in the development, distribution and retention of a diverse, culturally competent health workforce that provides high-quality care. From 2001-2007, Brand was director and associate administrator of HRSA’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. In that position, she served as HHS’s rural health lead and was responsible for health policy, research and grant activities that promote better health care services in rural America. In previous federal appointments, she led efforts to plan and implement the State Planning Grant Program, which helped states explore options for providing health care coverage for uninsured residents, and coordinated HRSA’s efforts to implement the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Brand earned a doctoral degree in higher education leadership and administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and master and bachelor of science degrees in dental hygiene from Old Dominion University. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the National Rural Health Association’s Foundation and serves on the board of the West Virginia Oral Health Coalition.
Director Dr. Steve Geiermann, a retired Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service, recently retired after 15 years as the Senior Manager addressing access, community oral health infrastructure and capacity within the American Dental Association’s Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention. He served in the Indian Health Service and Federally Qualified Health Centers as well as being a HRSA regional dental consultant and project officer within the National Health Service Corps and the HIV/AIDS Bureau. He currently serves on the boards of the American Institute of Dental Public Health (AIDPH), the Dental Patient Safety Foundation, and the Association for Dental Safety (ADS), as well as the Oral Health Progress and Equity Network (OPEN). He is the chair of the Best Practices Committee within the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors. Steve is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Council for Excellence in Government.
Director Linda Gehringer is a seasoned sales executive with extensive experience across the dental industry, bringing a strong track record of leadership through growth, transformation, and mergers and acquisitions. She began her career with Patterson Dental Company as a Patterson Technology Representative and Regional Manager, later advancing to senior leadership roles at Schick Technologies as Vice President, U.S. Sales – Intraoral Imaging, and at Sirona Dental as Vice President, U.S. Sales overseeing National Accounts, Institutions, Government, and Veterinary divisions. Following the Dentsply Sirona merger, Linda held multiple executive roles, including Vice President, U.S. Sales, leading large, complex sales organizations. After a one year sabbatical in 2021–2022, she returned to Patterson Dental, where she currently serves as Vice President of Sales, Strategic Accounts, focused on driving profitable growth and expanding elite and regional DSO partnerships through strategic alignment, operational excellence, and collaborative leadership.
Director Julian Huerta is the Vice President of Community Programs at St. David's Foundation, one of the largest health foundations in the United States, funding over $100 million annually in a five-county area surrounding Austin, Texas. Julian develops, implements, and supports the Foundation’s portfolio of direct service programs, including the St. David’s Foundation Mobile Dental Program and Neal Kocurek Scholarship for students pursuing careers in health professions–two of the largest examples of such initiatives in the country. He also participates in strategy and grant-making around affordable housing and homelessness in Central Texas.
Director Mr. Kierce is the Global Platform Leader for Dentsply-Sirona’s Infection Prevention Product Line. Mr. Kierce has been on the Dentsply-Sirona team for over 25 years. He started with DENTSPLY Ceramco in June 1993 as a Territory Sales Representative. From there, his career has grown to include leadership roles in special markets, merchandising, and marketing. |
