ADS Foundation
Founded in 1996, the ADS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational foundation that supports dental education, research, service, and policy development to promote the safety and control of infectious diseases in oral healthcare settings worldwide (Tax ID: 52-1963109).
With its effective use of national and international infection prevention and safety experts, consultants, member volunteers, governmental agencies, other associations, industry, and advisory groups such as the Friends of ADS, the ADS Foundation has worked proactively to identify and address current and emerging issues. Since 2019, the organization has:
- Helped over 2,100 oral healthcare professionals earn the Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate Program, in partnership with The DALE Foundation
- Created and launched the first-ever U.S. certifications for dental infection prevention with DANB (CDIPC and DISIPC), achieved by over 379 professionals
- Updated and distributed If Saliva Were Red with a facilitator's guide in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, reaching more than 75,000 viewers.
- Advised the CDC Division of Oral Health on its COVID-19 Infection Control Guidance for dental settings.
- Led over 20 national dental organizations in listening sessions and delivered free CE webinars on COVID-19 guidance
- Developed best practices and patient resources in cooperation with CareQuest Institute and the CDC, making vital information available in both English and Spanish.
- Produced guides, webinars, and interactive educational tools to help dental health personnel and school sealant programs apply the latest infection control standards.
- Created the Oral Health in Healthcare Settings to Prevent Pneumonia Toolkit and the Antibiotic Stewardship for Oral Health webpage with support from CDC funding.
- Hosted 15 educational conferences, including seven Dental Infection Control Boot Camps, a Tribal Boot Camp, and seven Annual Conferences, educating more than 5,200 professionals
- Provided more than 320 scholarships to support participation in dental infection prevention educational programs.
- Delivered or collaborated on more than 64 webinars, and produced 58 podcasts with over 4,000 downloads.
- Provided a 3-hour onsite training to more than 400 underserved tribal health dental and medical healthcare workers across the country with support from OSHA funding.
- Recognized twice by ADA CERP with the highest four-year accreditation - newest term through June 2029.
